Elizabth deC. Wilson
A great lover of the arts, Elizabeth deC. Wilson made it her mission to support local arts and educational organizations. In the early 1990s, Mrs. Wilson underwrote the Visiting Artists Series that brought special arts programs to all Burr and Burton students.
Her goal was to expose all students, most especially those not participating in arts classes, to the joys of music, dance, theater and fine arts.
Mrs. Wilson established the Elizabeth deC. Wilson Fund in 1991 in an effort to secure this goal of bringing the arts to all Burr and Burton students. Over the years, the fund has supported visiting artists, field trips to notable art institutions and arts performances as well as the ongoing needs of the Arts Department.
“Mrs. Wilson's gifts have impacted the lives of so many of our students as they have been exposed to arts across the curriculum, “ says Betsy Hubner, chair of the Arts Department. “She has helped provide an education that prepares them to be skilled art makers and performers as well as informed audiences of the arts., a joy that lasts a lifetime.”
Endowed funds such as the Wilson Fund help us achieve our goal of making the arts an integral part of every student’s education and we are deeply grateful to Mrs. Wilson for her assistance.
