Alumni Recognition Awards
The Alumni Recognition Committee has devised three annual awards in addition to the Athletic Hall of Fame Awards. One award recognizes an alumnus/a who has been instrumental in his/her service to Burr and Burton and another award would recognize an alumnus/a who has used his or her talents and achievements to better his/her community. The third award is given to a former faculty or staff member in recognition of his or her dedication and loyalty to Burr and Burton and its students. The criteria for each award is as follows:
Alumni Distinguished Service Award
Candidates for this award should have rendered significant volunteer service to Burr and Burton. The candidate’s record of volunteer service would include but not be limited to: Alumni Association, Board of Trustees, Class Agent and/or support of the school’s academic departments etc. Their volunteer endeavors facilitate the school’s mission. Candidates must have graduated from Burr and Burton prior to 1996.
Alumni Achievement Award
Candidates for this award should have a superb record of outstanding contributions to their profession and community. The candidate’s record should include but not be limited to: career accomplishments (all careers including business and the arts), professional impact and/or community service. Candidates must have graduated from Burr and Burton prior to 1996.
Faculty/Staff Distinguished Award
Candidates for this award should have proven dedication and loyalty to Burr and Burton. Their leadership was evident to their fellow faculty and staff members. Their impact on their students was measurable. Candidates eligible for this award must have been a member of the faculty/staff for at least ten years, not currently employed by the school and may or may not be living.
Nomination forms are sent in early January to all alumni. The nominations are due by March 1st. Selection Committee meets in mid-April and inductees are recognized during the Awards Ceremony held during Reunion Weekend in June.
