
The arts are an integral part of every student's education at Burr and Burton.
Students are required take a full credit course in one of the art disciplines for graduation.
The arts are also integrated into humanities classes with special visiting artist performances and exhibits and through interdisciplinary projects.
The Arts Department provides opportunities for cultural literacy in the major disciplines of
* dance
* music
* practical
* theater
* visual arts

The goal is to prepare students to be skilled art makers and performers as well as to develop members of an informed audience of the arts.
The performing arts are very popular at Burr and Burton, both as academic courses and as extracurricular activities.

Drama is offered as both a course and a club activity. In addition to two casts putting on two full-scale productions in the Riley Center for the Arts every year, students with a flair for the theatrical entertain area elementary school children with their original works and participate in a regional drama festivals. Students who want to continue their involvement with drama outside the classroom can join the Drama Club.
Dance is also offered as a course and an extracurricular team activity. From the first introductory class to the varsity dance team, students have excellent opportunites to express themselves through modern dance routines.

Music is considered an essential part of every student's education. Within an innovative curriculum are opportunities for both the performing artist and the non-performer to immerse themselves in music. There are courses appropriate for students with little music experience, as well as those who are preparing for careers in music.
