  • French Teacher

    Burr and Burton Academy seeks a French teacher for grades 9-12, beginning August 2024. Candidates must possess excellent communication skills, fluency in French, and be well versed in teaching techniques that reach a variety of learning styles, including proficiency based assessment and Universal Design for Learning (UDL). Candidates should be comfortable teaching mixed-level classes, integrating technology into daily instruction, and working as a part of a collaborative world language department. An undergraduate degree in French or education is required. Previous experience teaching French at the high-school level is preferred.

  • Visual Arts Teacher

    Burr and Burton Academy seeks a motivated, enthusiastic, collaborative visual arts teacher, beginning August 2024. The full-time position primarily involves teaching studio art, with opportunities for teaching in a variety of media, based on the candidate’s talents and interests. Preferred candidates have a strong background in both two and three dimensional art making, experience teaching high school students, a degree in the visual arts and/or design, and the ability to develop and deliver a rich and meaningful, integrated curriculum. Candidates must be comfortable teaching students of all levels/abilities and employing a framework of Universal Design for Learning (UDL).

  • ACCESS Program Learning Specialist

    Burr and Burton Academy seeks a full-time special educator, beginning August 2024, to provide direct services to students with disabilities in an intensive needs program. Candidates must have experience with case management and direct instruction of students with developmental disabilities, including behavioral, academic, communication and/or attention challenges. Candidates should also have an understanding of the executive functioning, social emotional and behavioral needs of teens. Necessary qualities include effective communication, initiative, and knowledge of special education regulations as well as the ability to complete and interpret evaluations and IEPs. A calm, supportive demeanor and willingness to work as a collaborative team member with educators, families, and outside agencies is required, as is Vermont certification in special education. The position also requires experience with augmentative devices, and a willingness to learn new technologies as determined by individual student needs.

  • BBA Academic Interventionist

    BBA seeks a full-time Academic Interventionist, beginning August 2024. As part of BBA’s Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS), the Academic Interventionist oversees the progress of students facing academic challenges that require specific and targeted interventions. The Academic Interventionist partners with teachers, students, and parents to develop and implement individualized plans, with a particular focus on supportive accountability and skill development. The Academic Interventionist works in close collaboration with the Student Success Program and the Care For At-Risk Students team. 

    Ideal candidates have experience teaching teens, strong organizational and communication skills, a caring disposition, and an ability to employ trauma-informed pedagogy and Universal Design for Learning (UDL).   • Learning Specialist

    Burr and Burton Academy seeks a full-time special educator, beginning August 2024. Candidates must have experience supporting students with social cognition, behavioral, and social emotional needs, as well as experience in planning, leading, and managing IEP meetings. Necessary qualities include a strong instructional background in basic skill areas, effective communication, initiative, and knowledge of special education regulations, and the ability to complete and interpret evaluations and IEPs. A calm, supportive demeanor and willingness to work as a collaborative team member with educators, families, and outside agencies is required, as is Vermont certification in special education. Preferred candidates have a familiarity with MTSS (Multi-tiered System of Supports), competency in data collection, technology integration, and progress monitoring, and the ability to motivate and engage students.

  • Mental Health Clinician

    BBA seeks a full-time mental health clinician, starting August 2024. Candidates should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be well versed in mandated reporting laws as they pertain to teenagers and their families, and have strong clinical experience serving teens. Candidates must be licensed to provide psychotherapy in Vermont.   • STEM Integrationist/Engineering and Computer Science Teacher

    Burr and Burton Academy seeks a full-time STEM integrationist, beginning August of 2024. A teacher-leader, the BBA STEM integrationist is responsible for leading, coordinating, and deepening the school's nascent STEM program. Job responsibilities include:
    1. Teaching Computer Science, Engineering, and Science Olympiad courses. 
    2. STEM Curriculum/Program Development
    • Leading the design and implementation of a STEM curriculum that promotes creativity, critical thinking, integrated learning and problem-solving.
    • Collaborating with teachers to integrate STEM projects into their classes.
    1. Resource Management
    • Overseeing budgets, materials, and equipment for STEM programs.
    • Designing, outfitting, maintaining and updating the STEM lab/design space.
    Qualifications:
    • A bachelor's degree in engineering/robotics or computer science.
    • Teaching experience and/or work experience relevant to integrated STEM education, preferably at the high school level.
    • Strong leadership, problem-solving, communication and collaboration skills.
    • Knowledge of current STEM educational trends and best practices.
    • Expertise with educational technology and software.

  • Driver Education Teacher

    Burr and Burton Academy is searching for three (3) experienced and enthusiastic educators to fill part-time driver education teacher positions from June through August. The ideal candidate must have experience in both the in-class and on-the-road components of driver education. Candidates must be able to work creatively and collaboratively to create an environment that invites respect for all persons, relate a sense of fairness, and practice commitment to inclusion and diversity. 
     
    Qualifications: Educator license by the State of Vermont with a Driver Education endorsement required; Knowledge and experience with both the in-class curriculum and on-the-road instruction; Demonstrated understanding of best practices in teaching and learning, must be enthusiastic, student centered, and committed to educating all students to high standards.

  • Bus and Van Drivers

    Be part of the team that makes education possible. BBA is looking for bus drivers to help facilitate field trips, athletics events, and school travel. Pay is highly competitive, ranging from $23 to $29 per hour. We’re seeking both certified CDL and Type II drivers as well as those willing to be trained; we can help to provide training and licensing.
