Admissions
Welcome to Burr and Burton Academy's Admissions Center.
From
its founding in 1829 Burr and Burton has been an independent academy
serving as the local high school for area students while attracting
students from outside the state for its rigorous educational standards
and committed faculty .
Through a unique voucher system, which
has been in place for over a hundred years, admission is available free
of charge to high-school students who reside in the following eleven
sending towns: Manchester, Dorset, Danby, Londonderry, Landgrove, Mt.
Tabor, Peru, Stratton, Sunderland, Weston and Winhall. These towns vote
every year to approve the school's tuition, which is paid through the
state property taxes.
Admission is also open on an annual basis
to interested students from towns other than those named above, though
the voucher system does not cover their tuition.
Every year Burr and
Burton welcomes students from around the world who are interested in
spending a semester or a year in an American high school either living
with a family or in a small dormitory close to the campus.
We
encourage you to call for an information packet and to make an
appointment to visit the campus if possible. Please contact Director of
Admission and School Counseling Phil Anton at 802.549.8125 or by e-mail
