Confirmed COVID-19 Case

Dear BBA Community:

This evening we were notified that a teacher has tested positive for COVID-19. This is a confirmed case.

The teacher in question has not been in school since last Thursday and has been self quarantining since Friday. Thus, we are hopeful that there has not been transmission within the BBA community.

As per our protocol, we are shutting down all in-person school activities and events for the next 24 hours. This includes all athletic competitions and practices

Tomorrow’s classes will be remote.

We are working with the Vermont Department of Health regarding contact tracing within the BBA community to the extent that they determine that to be an important step. To reiterate: this teacher has not been in school since last Thursday, so preliminary indications from the Department of Health is that they do not believe the teacher was contagious while in attendance at BBA.

Knowing how unsettling the situation is, with the permission of the teacher, we will notify all students and families in the classes and activities led by this teacher. We also encourage the entire community to self-monitor vigilantly for COVID-19 symptoms and seek medical attention and testing as appropriate.

I will provide further updates as events unfold.

The safety of our community is and will remain our top priority. Thank you all for your understanding and cooperation as we chart through this scary, uncertain, and very stressful time.

Sincerely,
Mark H. Tashjian
Headmaster
