Sarah McMillan Honored with NEA Award

BBA Social Studies Teacher and Food Program Coordinator Sarah McMillan was honored this month with a Vermont National Education Association (NEA) Human and Civil Rights Award.  

The Vermont-NEA Human and Civil Rights Committee recognizes the work of Vermonters advancing human and civil rights. The award recognizes an educator that :
~ initiates projects that further the rights of others;
~ supports projects that further the educational opportunities of others;
~ engages in projects that raise awareness of diversity issues; 
~ consistently champions human and civil rights;
~ exemplifies and acts on a belief in human and civil rights. 
 
For her work supporting the human rights of refugees and immigrants on America's southern border, students' rights to be free from discrimination in school, and the rights of all students to have universal access to free, local, healthy food,  Sarah McMillan is this year's recipient of the Vermont-NEA Human and Civil Rights Award.  Please congratulate Sarah for this well deserved honor and THANK her for the amazing contributions that she has made to BBA, to Vermont state policy, to New York State education, and in the lives of so many young people.  

McMillan was nominated by fellow BBA teacher Jillian Joyce.  Congratulations, Sarah, and thank you for your inspired work for BBA.
