Tough season opener

We have a young team and this was the first Varsity game for more than half of the team. We were very pleased with our team's play and did not feel that the score was indicative of the feel of the game.
Delana Underwood was a rockstar in goal for her first ever Field Hockey game. Our defensive unit of Katie Crabtree, Kylie Prins, Bailey Gilliam and Ava Stauss was super solid and held Queensbury scoreless for the first 19 minutes of the game.
Midfielders Mai-Liis Edwards, Kaelin Downey and Qwynn Humphrey played hard for the full 60 minutes and never let down. Particularly impressive for all three was their poise under pressure. Kate Andres stepped in from the bench in her first ever Field Hockey game and ran circles around the opponent.
Samantha Cocheo was fierce on offense, pressuring the ball and cutting back to defend. Alex Faucher used her speed and skill to maneuver the ball down the right wing consistently. Bea Thompson and Hope Schlageter were tenacious on the left wing, pressuring the Queensbury defense.

Our record is 0-1. We have a week to regroup and work on some things that we saw in the game today before we travel to Windsor on Friday, Sept 9 at 4:00.
