Bulldogs outmatched by CVU

Our girls played with heart and grit - we were just a bit outmatched by an excellent CVU team. Bailey Gilliam played a super game at center back and set up our one goal by working the ball all the way up the field into the circle. Katie Crabtree had many shining moments, carrying the ball wide and up the wings. Alex Faucher displayed her turf skills on the right wing, dodging players with smooth finesse. Hope Schlageter had a fantastic game for us, both on the wing and at center forward. Samantha Cocheo moved to the ball consistently and used some great passing combinations to move the ball up the field. Piper Morgan was a force on the left wing - her skill improves with every game.
Kylie Prins was taken out early in the first quarter when a shot on goal hit her just above the left eye - she came back briefly in the third quarter and, although she wasn't able to stay out for long, her fresh legs gave a much needed rest to Qwynn Humphrey. Qwynn played defense today for the majority of the game and showed poise under pressure, with confidence in her skill. Ava Stauss was fierce on the right side defensively, making decisions under pressure like a veteran player.
Delana Underwood was a rock in the goal, diving from one side to the other as CVU crossed the ball across the front of the net. She got a piece of the penalty stroke in the first quarter, but it had too much speed.
Kaelin Downey, Mai-Liis Edwards, Kate Andres and Bea Thompson gave it everything they had on the field today - they held strong against CVU all over the field.

Our record is not 1-2. We play at St. Johnsbury on Saturday, Sept 17 at 12:00 pm.
