A Gutsy win on a Gusty Night

Coach Mull
BBA 1 - Rutland 0 In a classic League Showdown, BBA prevailed in a tightly contested match 1-0 in Rutland on Friday night. While Rutland outshot BBA 13 - 6 the Bulldog defense remained stingy and held on for a shut out behind Sophomore keeper Will Morrell and senior keeper Liam Day each sharing a half. The one goal came on a long-distance strike on a breakaway from senior forward Johnny Miceli who buried a curling knuckle ball in the upper left with his left foot. JV call up Nicky Miceli filled out the back line along with junior center back Luke Lehman and sophomore back Chris Ott to fend off most Raider attacks. Keeper Will Morrell moonlighted as a striker in the second half when BBA found itself down to one substitute. Coach Mull cited conditioning coach Geoff Chamberlain for getting the team in shape for a gut-check win. Mull also cited the midfield play of Captain Duncan Chamberlain, Jayden Bloom, and Maximo Hasaj. BBA moves to 6-4 on the season and 3-1 in league play while Rutland falls to 3-7. BBA will next face Mt. Anthony on Taylor Field in Manchester on Tuesday, Oct 8 at 4:00.
