Senior Joey McCoy runners-up in Vermont 2020 Prudential Spirit of Community Award.

The 2020 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards is a national program that honors youth volunteers nationwide for outstanding volunteer service. There is one winner from each state at the high school level.

Senior Joey McCoy has been named one of two top runners-up in the state of Vermont; he received an engraved bronze Distinguished Finalist medallion and qualified for the President's Volunteer Service Award, which recognizes Americans of all ages who have volunteered significant amounts of their time to serve their communities. Joey collaborated with BBA's athletic and special education departments to create a Unified basketball team, which includes student athlete volunteers and students with disabilities.

A Certificate of Excellence is granted to the top 10 percent of all applicants in each state. BBA sophomore Dillon Callen is one of them, and has been honored, according to Charles Lowrey, Chairman and CEO of Prudential Financial, for his "impressive example of what young people can do to improve their communities" due to his involvement in the Be Brave for Life nonprofit organization.
