Maria is a member of the New England Association for College Admission Counseling and the National Association for College Admission Counseling and has worked at Burr and Burton since 2010. She attended Western College for Women (now Western Program at Miami University) where she earned a BA in Economics. Prior to joining the BBA team, she worked at Weston High School in Weston, MA and was an Independent Counselor in Minneapolis, MN with Nicky Carpenter. Before transitioning to education, Maria worked at Citibank NYC, Northern Trust Company.
Maria loves working with teenagers!! Her goal is to help students be able to navigate the challenges presented to them in high school and beyond. If college is their pathway she wants to present them with choices that will help them attain their future goals and if they are career oriented she hopes to steer them to the opportunities that will make them successful. She thoroughly enjoys her work with the Burr and Burton international students and finds joy in seeing them grow as they experience the BBA community and U.S. culture. Speaking of BBA culture, Maria’s highlights of the school year are the Drama department performances and the Gawlik Awards. She is also an ardent Bulldogs Athletics fan.
A resident of Manchester, Maria lives with her husband and wonderful dog Cooper, a 13 year old English Springer Spaniel. She has two grown children, Maggie, who lives in New Jersey with husband Keith and three boys, and Owen who lives in California with his wife Jenni and two children. When not at BBA, Maria enjoys walking, reading, gardening, and cooking.
