Vermont issued S-EBT benefits to over 38,000 school-aged children this summer – but some of these benefits are expiring soon.

As of early September, more than 12,000 children have more than $20 left on their benefit cards. Over $1.4 million in Summer EBT Benefits will be returned to the federal government on 10/10/2026 if they are not used.
As of early September, more than 12,000 children have more than $20 left on their benefit cards. Over $1.4 million in Summer EBT Benefits will be returned to the federal government on 10/10/2026 if they are not used.
Summer EBT benefits only last for 122 days (about 4 months) after you get them. If you received S-EBT benefits this summer, make sure to use them before they expire and are returned to the federal government. Once they expire, you can’t get them back. This year, most households need to use their benefits before October 10, 2026.
