The Legend of Sleepy Hollow - Tickets are ON SALE!

The Burr and Burton Academy Performing Arts Department is proud to present Hans and Peter Bloedel’s dynamic adaptation of Washington Irving’s classic ghost story, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. The production runs November 11–14 at 6:30 PM in the Riley Center for the Arts.
While Irving’s iconic story has been adapted across films, television, animation, and musical theater, this high-energy, full-length production brings a fresh theatricality to the stage. Created by the father-and-son creative team of Hans and Peter Bloedel, the play features poetic dialogue written in lyrical rhyming verse, clever fourth-wall breaks, and expressive ensemble storytelling.

Set against the backdrop of post-Revolutionary War New York, the play follows schoolmaster Ichabod Crane as he becomes smitten with the wealthy Katrina Van Tassel. His pursuit sets off a fierce competition with Brom Bones, the boisterous town hero and local prankster. Hanging over their rivalry is the haunting tale of the Headless Horseman—the ghost of a Hessian soldier who lost his head to a stray cannonball and rides through the night in search of it.

Don’t miss the chance to experience this uniquely staged version of a timeless American classic live on stage.
