  • Environmental Chemistry and Literature is Digging (Literally and Figuratively) into Snow

    The morning Mountain Campus class, Environmental Chemistry and Literature (CHEMLIT) is off to a great start!  Our first unit dives deep into the “Elements of Winter.” Students are learning the principles of thermodynamics, energy, and matter through snow science, and are exploring humans’ relationship to snow through snow stories.

  • Vermont Data Science Kicks Off at the MC!

    In our first week of Vermont Data Science, we officially launched a semester-long longitudinal study centered on the Kelley Cabin loop trail. To capture the shifting environmental dynamics of the Green Mountains, we established ten distinct checkpoints where students will consistently collect data on temperature, wind speed, snow depth, animal tracks, trail condition and canopy coverage. This fieldwork serves as the foundation for our exploration into the "living laboratory" of our campus, allowing us to track how these variables interact and change as we move through the winter and into the spring.

  • Mountain Campus Builds Momentum in First Semester of Half-Day Courses

    During the fall semester, nearly 40 Burr and Burton students completed the inaugural term of new, integrative half-day courses at the Mountain Campus. These innovative offerings expanded opportunities for immersive, outdoor learning while allowing students to remain connected to main campus academics and extracurriculars. Taught by BBA faculty during the regular school day, each two-credit course fulfills graduation requirements in core subject areas and is offered for CP or honors credit.
