Yesterday, I wrote to you with welcome news from the governor thatSchool-sponsored winter sports programs may initiate non-contact, physically distanced, coach-led practice sessionsas early as Saturday. Please note that these will not look like traditional winter practices. We will all need to work together to minimize the risk involved. A large portion of this falls on the shoulders of the athletes.
I particularly ask that the athletes be especially vigilant about maintaining proper distance. Of all the precautions that we ask of the students, this has continued to be the one that they need the most reminding about. While it fills my heart to know that being in physical proximity to those we care about is such a strong urge for human beings, it is NOT the way to manage safely through a pandemic. Please stay apart to do your part.
Attached are BBA's newFramework for Opening Winter Sportsbased on the guidance we have received from the Vermont Principals Association and the Agency of Education. As of right now, we are planning the following start dates. Please reach out to your coach if you have not been contacted about details as it likely means they are not aware of your interest in participating.
Many thanks for all that the athletes have been doing to make the best of remotely connecting with coaches and teammates. Let's have a great and safe start to the in-person portion of our Winter season!
Thank you,
Dave Miceli
