9th Grade Service Day - Monday, 9/11

Jillian Joyce
Dear 9th grade Students and Families,

On Monday, September 11th, all 9th graders will spend their school day out in our community giving back. We are proud to be a school that includes education for service in our mission.

Our 9th grade service day honors the national day of service in commemoration of the Anniversary of 9/11. In the immediate aftermath and for weeks and months to come, Americans responded to the needs of others through service.

In honor of the service men and women who serve, the firefighters and first responders who serve, and the many Americans who gave of themselves to neighbors and to strangers, BBA 9th graders will give back to our local community in that same spirit of unity. Thank you for supporting BBA's service program.

Key Details
Where are students going on service day? Students participate in a project with their advisors and mentors from BBA. Each project will have a community partner present in order to help the project run smoothly.

What is the timing and how do students get there? All 9th graders will gather in the gym at 8:15am and be dismissed to their transportation in their advisory group. Students will ride in buses and vans provided by the school. All students will return to BBA by 2:20pm for reflection, a snack, and for dismissal to their normal afternoon transportation plans and after school activities.

Will students get lunch? 9th graders may pack their own lunch or order a bag lunch from school. Please contact Jillian Joyce if there are questions about lunches. Small snacks (apples and granola bars) will be provided. All students should bring their own full water bottle.

How should students prepare? Dress to be outside, wear sturdy shoes. Bring sunscreen, bug spray, water bottles, gloves if you have them. Students will be active all day. Mostly outside on trails, in fields, doing great work around the community. This day will happen rain or shine.
