Burr and Burton Academy Hosts 13th Annual Grandparents Day
Burr and Burton Academy hosted 107 grandparents on Friday, April 26, for the school's thirteenth annual Grandparents Day.
Grandparents arrived at 10 a.m. for a reception and coffee in the Riley Center. Headmaster Mark Tasjhian followed with welcoming remarks and gave an overview of Burr and Burton. Various teachers and staff then gave presentations on ongoing programs such as integrative learning, the STEAM lab, digital photography, robotics, video game design, as well as talks about technology and wellness. Architect Kyle Murphy '07 gave a very informative update on the Rowland Project and the thought process and considerations in the upcoming new additions to the campus. The presentations were flanked with performances by BBA’s Choral group Unaccompanied Minors and a preview of the upcoming spring musical The All Night Strut!.
After this rousing performance 98 grandchildren met and greeted their grandparents and escorted them to a luncheon in the Rowland Center. Campus tours were then offered to many of the visitors and they had the opportunity to visit classrooms and walk throughout the BBA campus.
Grandmother of student Lucia Langan '22 remarked, "I feel very, very proud to have been invited by my granddaughter. She tells me about her classes all the time. Burr and Burton is just amazing"
