Food at Burr and Burton

Healthy Body, Healthy Mind - Real Food For All

The Rowland Center is the home to BBA’s Student Center which is the hub for food service and is an inviting space for students to gather.

Burr and Burton Academy’s Food Program mission of Healthy body, Healthy mind, Real food for all is outlined in three core values. The food served at BBA will be real, nutrient-dense, and use ingredients that are procured in a socially responsible way. Burr and Burton Academy operates a full-service cafeteria and a build your own bowl station in the Student Center.

BBA is committed to a meals program that provides delicious healthy meals, teaches students about our food system, expands its use of locally sourced food while developing community.

In the 2023-24 school year, all students will receive free breakfast and lunch at school.  The State of Vermont has provided money to do this for one year through the Universal School Meals Act. Students may also purchase a la carte items from the Student Center location by setting up a lunch account through MealTime. BBA issues swipe cards linked to their prepaid MealTime lunch account. All lunch account transactions will require the swipe card. Families can send in a check or cash or set up a MealTime account to be linked to student swipe cards.

This Institution is an Equal Opportunity Provider.

  • Create A Mealtime Account

Burr and Burton uses a service provided by MealTime that makes it possible for parents to make credit or debit card deposits into the student’s cafeteria account, view account balances, and view purchase history over the Internet. Setting up an online account is strongly encouraged if for no other reason than for checking student balances.

Follow this link for instructions on how to set up a Mealtime Account.

Parents may set a low balance notification indicator which will notify them when the account reaches a predetermined level. If accounts are not replenished by the time the account reaches zero, the account will be suspended and the student will not be able to charge until the account is refilled. Families with more than one student have the option of sharing balances so that if Student A is short of funds the account will draw from Student B. Please let the Business Office know if you would like to activate this feature.

Please note that Mealtime balances are not transferrable from one school to another.
